FAQ

We're only offering virtual therapy at this time, so online. Which is probably right where you're looking now.

Virtual (or online) therapy at Planted to Bloom uses a HIPAA-compliant portal called Simple Practice. You'll create an individual profile and log in there when it's time to attend your session.

Sessions are 50 minutes, unless you and your clinician have discussed something different.

Reach out and let us know that you're interested in Growing Together.

It's a great resource, and we encourage you to use it to make contact with one of our providers. You can see whether they feel like a good fit and ask any questions you have about that provider or about the therapeutic process.

Alana works with clients 15 and up. Amber works with clients 14 and up.

We work with humans. Predominantly women find us first, but we're happy to support individual men, women, and anyone identifying as LGBTQIA+.

Alana attended Vassar College in upstate New York, where she double majored in psychology and religion. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University.

Amber attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in Psychology with a minor in Communication Studies. She holds a Master of Science in Counseling and Development with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Woman's University.

Yes. Both of our clinicians are fully licensed in the state of Texas.

We hope you choose comfortable furniture for yourself during a session.

Actually, different postures come up in session depending on the type of therapy you and your provider are doing. That can include lying down, standing up, and plenty in between.

That's totally up to you. Good therapy doesn't always come with tears, and there will be no judgment from us if any show up (by you OR your provider).

Tissues are not always necessary for sessions, but if you have some nearby, we hope they're supportive for your nose and face.

The counselor answer is: it depends.

Eeewww, more apps. But actually, Alana loves Recipe Keeper and Amber does a daily moment called 1 Second Everyday. The one we'd typically recommend for most people is Headspace.

Both. We don't discriminate against anyone, especially fur babies.

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy, meaning you MUST cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation charge.

Not necessarily, no. Sometimes dream work is helpful and relates to what's happening in your everyday life, but it is definitely not required.

Filling a 50-minute conversation can sound impossible, but don't worry. Our therapists have a unique way of asking questions and connecting, so you don't even have to wonder what you need to talk about.

Something comfy. Please wear pants though, since we sometimes ask you to stand up.
